Power Brooming & Fiber Rebloom

Power Brooming

Your Turf Doesn't Need Replacement. It Needs a Power Broom.

Matted, flat, tired-looking artificial grass is almost always recoverable. Most homeowners assume their turf is worn out when it's just compacted and under-brushed. A single professional power broom session lifts every fiber, redistributes the infill, and makes the turf look new again, usually for a fraction of replacement cost.

What Happens to Turf Over Time

Foot Traffic, Heat, and Gravity Flatten Every Turf

Artificial turf fibers are designed to stand up and spring back when you walk on them. That works for a while. But over months and years, the combination of foot traffic, pet traffic, sun exposure, and the weight of the infill settling causes fibers to lean in the direction of the wear pattern. Once they lean, the turf looks flat, the green color looks duller, and the whole surface reads as "old" even though it's structurally fine.

The fix isn't replacement. The fix is power brooming against the grain of the wear pattern. A commercial dual-motor broom, properly operated, can lift fibers that have been flat for years. Done at the right angle and speed, it restores the original spring without damaging the fibers.

Consumer-grade brooms don't have the motor power to actually lift the fibers. Stiff bristle brushes damage the tips. Rented units are usually the wrong broom head type for artificial turf specifically. It's one of those jobs where the equipment matters more than the labor.

Common Questions

What People Ask About Power Brooming

  • Walk across your turf barefoot. If the fibers feel crushed flat and do not spring back, it is matted. If you can see foot-traffic paths, pet trails, or areas where the green color looks duller than the rest, it is matted. Power brooming fixes all of that in a single visit.

  • Every 3 to 6 months for most residential yards, monthly for commercial or pet-heavy use. Southern Utah sun and heat make fibers flatten faster than in milder climates, so most St. George homeowners need it at least twice a year.

  • You can, but rented consumer-grade power brooms are underpowered and usually leave the fibers only partially lifted. They also do not redistribute infill correctly, which means you get a short-term cosmetic fix without the real restoration. Our commercial dual-motor equipment moves infill properly and lifts fibers in a single pass.

  • No. Done correctly with the right equipment and speed, power brooming is exactly what the fibers are designed to withstand. Done wrong with a stiff brush or the wrong angle, it can fray the fiber tips. That is why we use a specific commercial broom head and trained technique.

  • 30 to 60 minutes for a standard residential yard. Larger commercial properties take longer. We can include it in a deep clean visit (recommended) or schedule it as a standalone service.
